MonteSSORI Nature Gigognes Owls - Discoveries 

Based on the same principle as Russian dolls or Matrioshka, the owls allow the child to practice different manipulations to open, close, adjust, compare, sort, classify and store according to the principles of Montessori pedagogy.

Between the age of one and three, the child likes to store items in boxes. This activity therefore responds to the spontaneous needs of the child in his sensitive period of order. It allows him to put everything in his place, which gives him a sense of security. He is also interested in comparing, sorting, ranking, functions specific to the mathematical mind. The owls also meet the need for fine handling. 

The owls offer several activities to the child:

• Visual discrimination: recognising different sizes,

• classification: classify and then nest the small owls in the large ones,

• language: the child learns the concepts of "smaller, bigger" as well as the superlative: "the smallest, the largest..."

• Manipulation: develop fine motor skills

• Gesture control: face the top and bottom of each owl based on the visual control of their wings. These wooden owls require delicate handling, allowing the child to learn precise and gentle gestures.
